Hello,

In love with Belgium and Brussels

Introduction

BEYOND WORDS... ACTION!

Since I have been Alderman and now Municipal Councillor and Brussels MP, I have chosen to base my public mandate on action. Defeatism or fatalism are attitudes that I do not accept, any more than the 'just have to' or 'just need to'. Managing files related to the development of the City and the Region is an exciting challenge, but also particularly demanding. This mission requires in-depth knowledge and regular monitoring of files, whether they are related to land management or the enhancement of our Brussels heritage.

Over the past few months, we have been able to demonstrate our expertise through the efficient management of various ongoing or upcoming projects. This energy must be maintained in the long term, in order to contribute positively and effectively to the vision and redevelopment of a city that truly deserves it!

MIJN POLITIEKE BETROKKENHEID

My interest in politics started very early. In 1993, I took part in my very first demonstration for the unity of the country. Many battles inspire me, which is why I am involved in many patriotic associations. For my higher education, I chose ULB as an obvious choice. I joined the liberal student circle early on and became its President. These were the beginnings of my political commitment.

During a conference I organized at the university, a municipal councilor from the City of Brussels suggested that I run on the liberal electoral lists for the upcoming municipal elections. Why not, I was 21 years old.

For two years, between 1998 and 2000, I attended most of the municipal council meetings. That was the turning point. I realized that many decisions and concrete actions are taken at the municipal level and it made me want to go further. I was still a student when François-Xavier de Donnea gave me the opportunity to run on the municipal lists in 2000, as the youngest liberal candidate.

After a campaign full of energy, I achieved the 11th best score on the list. This is how I was elected the youngest municipal councilor in the City of Brussels, at just 23 years old. I quickly got involved in "urban" issues such as architecture, urban planning, heritage, land use planning, security, cultural matters, and mobility-related issues.

I will not be a silent municipal councilor. I speak up a lot, by going out in the field and joining various associations.

In 2006, a new election and unfortunately back in the opposition despite almost doubling my electoral score.

In 2009, for the first time, I ran for the regional elections where I achieved a very honorable score of nearly 3000 votes, more than half of the Brussels deputies at the time. However, the system of devolution of the top position prevented me from becoming a deputy.
Three years later, during the 2012 municipal elections, I was appointed Alderman for Urban Planning and Heritage, in charge of the Purchasing Center at the City of Brussels, with immense joy. These are skills that I know and cherish particularly. Since December 2018, despite nearly 1600 preference votes, I have returned to the opposition benches but continue to invest daily for Brussels and its inhabitants.

In 2014, a second attempt at the regional elections. And despite more than 3100 votes, more than 2/3 of the Brussels deputies, I am once again an unsuccessful candidate, again due to the devolution effect of the top position.

At the end of 2018, despite nearly 1600 preference votes in the municipal elections, it is with regret that I return to the opposition benches but continue to invest daily in the Municipal Council for Brussels and its inhabitants.

In 2019, I ran for the 3rd time in the regional elections. With 3260 preference votes, I became a Member of the Brussels Parliament. Today, I use my experience and dynamism for issues that are particularly close to my heart, for a territorial development that truly cares about the inhabitants, but also notably for European affairs, where I will be one of the most active deputies. During this legislature, I will be the 4th most active deputy out of the 89 who make up the hemicycle.

In 2024, after 20 years in the opposition, I was elected as a Member of the Brussels Parliament, a recognition of the constant work and commitment to defend the interests of the citizens of Brussels. In this position, I strive to promote an ambitious vision for the Region, focusing on policies that promote the well-being of the inhabitants, sustainable development, and good governance.
